The season of Lent is a forty day period of penitence, fasting, and prayer, in preparation for the great feast of the resurrection at Easter. “The forty days refer to our Lord’s time of fasting in the wilderness; and since Sundays are never fast days, Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten Fast.” BCP, page 542
Our Ash Wednesday service will be held at Calvary at 7:30 a.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes. Through scripture readings, the imposition of ashes, prayers of confession, and Communion, the Ash Wednesday service is a powerful reminder of our mortality and the gift of salvation.
