We value our children and youth as active and full participants in the life of our church family, but we also recognize the unique vulnerabilities they experience as they grow toward maturity and understanding. Seeking to be a community that fosters trust and flourishing across the lifespan, several safeguards are in place to cast a net of awareness and protection for the youth and children among us.
- Screening: volunteers who work with children submit to various background checks.
- Training: volunteers complete training on abuse prevention and awareness and on Minnesota Deanery policy.
- Interacting: volunteers must follow specific guidelines for verbal and physical interactions with children.
- Monitoring: the work of maintaining our policies and protections for our young people is ongoing and overseen by our Safety Coordinator.
- Respond and Report Abuse: volunteers are expected to report any suspicion of abuse or neglect to civil authorities and to report relevant information to church leaders.
More information on these steps can be found in our Policies and Procedures.
